Summering the best summer of our summers

It's not all sunshine and rainbows, but summer has been summering. Swim lessons were successful, we visited River Run pretty regularly, played in the creeks, celebrated Rowans birthday in May and Miles and Callie in July, we checked out the new Soar N Bounce several times and frequented the library! We saw the new movies and they went to safety town! The kids have stayed busy with one on one dates with me and I have stayed busy with concerts and workouts. I went ahead and signed up with a trainer and I continue to push my limits at Hotworx (still obsessed).

These one on one dates, were the highlight of the season! I had gotten tickets to Megan Moroney for me and Lucy and it was amazing!! The concert was awesome, Lucy felt so grown and even though she couldn't hang until the very end- it was definitely a 'best night ever!.'

Miles chose a baseball game with the Louisville Bats and took his baseball glove to catch a fly! He had big plans and watched intently the whole time- which says a lot about baseball holding his attention. He ended up with a free hat and a $14 baseball but again, BEST. NIGHT. EVER.

Rowan chose a baseball game too and we accidentally ended up there on "Nothing Night" which means, no walk up songs, no silly games between innings and no commentating- just the natural sounds of baseball. Which is perhaps why after eating cotton candy and snow cones, Rowan told me, "We saw all the things, we did all the things, we can go home now." But also- that's very Rowan.

Callie picked a Racing Soccer game and it was perfection for her. Although they didn't win, Callie was so invested. We got a little soccer ball while we were there and played for part of the game out front. It was so fun and she kept thanking me for taking her. Her best night ever and she got to stay out "late" which made her feel like a grown up.

Having these dates with my kids was something I had wanted to do for a long time and I felt like I couldn't take one and leave three behind- But thank goodness for willing sitters and a rock star niece. After the little three heard they could pick an activity to do with me, but Lucy was going with me first- it turned out great. I was able to give each kid 100% of me- as it should be. I was able to recognize and dig into the priorities that I already knew I was focusing on. It is truly, so important to me that my kids know I am there, anytime, for anything. They have been amazing- minus the fighting.... and they better keep being their best selves in public. Haha! I am running into a problem finding the balance between giving them the world....then making sure they aren't acting like brats. If ya'll have any insight or clues, share them!
